Radiant Resonance
The sculpture installed above the awning, Radiant Resonance, utilizes the power of the sun to embody renewable energy technology. As energy is drawn from the skies it radiates down and pulses energy into the core, charging and glowing with full energy. The acrylic paneling is shaped to represent the electromagnetic waves that are coming from the sun as its power source.
Radiant Resonance is powered using electricity that is solar-generated on-site with a system provided by Verde Technologies. Installed on the roof of the BCA Studios, the system is demonstrating the elimination of mounting hardware that can be achieved with thin film solar panels which reduces weight, visibility and installation costs. Based here in Burlington, Verde Technologies is developing thin-film solar panel manufacturing techniques using 'perovskites' that may one day power BCA's studio and community room expansion.
In its most simple form, Radiant Resonance is a stunning sculpture entirely powered by solar. However, it also serves to highlight the critical advancements in technology that are urgently needed to help mitigate our climate crisis, connects to the netzero intentions of this arts expansion project, and illuminates the beauty and possibility of renewable energy.
